In order to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of the pet medical industry and furnish essential data and guidance for its high-quality and standardized development in the new era, several key organizations including the Chinese Veterinary Medical Association, the National Veterinary Medicine Union ( 国 家 兽 药 联 盟 ), the Chinese Veterinary Association, the East and West Small Animal Veterinary Conference ( 东 西 部 兽 医 ), and iChong collaborated to produce the "2023 China Pet Medical Industry White Paper."

The report's comprehensive analysis is the result of a transparent and robust research methodology conducted by an expert team of in-country analysts.
The data collected from over 4,000 pet diagnosis and treatment institutions accurately reflects the current situation of the pet medical industry. Moreover, an special survey carried out by the East-West Small Animal Clinical Veterinary Conference in collaboration with Beijing Huachi Qiansheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd. covering over 2,000 veterinarians and hospital directors, and 1,800 pet owners deeply explore the perceptions of pet hospitals and pet owners regarding pet health supplements.
The report contains a detailed study on pet health. A total of 390,121 cases were sampled from 232 pet hospitals in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and other cities to provide an in-depth analysis of the relationship between age, sex, size, breed, and year seasons and the incidence of diseases in pets.
Additionally, a total of 848 samples were taken from 30 provincial-level administrative regions, covering 166 cities, to carry out a statistical analysis of the medical consumption of pet owners from four aspects: pet owners' profiles, consumption preference, acceptance of various examination items, and consumption behavior.
